In 2010, World Solidarity and its partners will have three campaigns running, one in each continent.
- In Africa, the main issue is “extending social protection to the informal economy workers”, especially by institutionalising health-care mutual societies. Mutual societies want this issue to be included in the political agenda, most of all by lobbying decision-makers;
- In Asia, an awareness raising campaign on the problems of short-term contracting in the Asian garment sector will be launched, both towards the garment sector workers, as well as towards employers and buyers. National governments, ILO and other policymakers will receive concrete policy recommendations as to how equal treatment of long- and short-term contract workers can be reached.
- In Latin America, partners are most of all concerned about the persisting violation of working women’s rights. The organisations have decided to launch an awareness-raising campaign among their own subsidiary organisations, towards their government and the ILO.
